How much will taking certain medications affect you in your efforts to lose weight?
author: Ludmila Francová Unfortunately, it is significantly so for some types of medication. Especially when we are talking about antidepressants, thyroid medication, diabetes, high blood pressure, fertility drugs, sleep aids, diuretics, or perhaps weight loss medications themselves. In addition, very few people realize that the amount of medication and its dosage are also related to a person's current weight, so during the diet program it is necessary to consult a doctor about the amount of medication and adjust its dosage. The main influence on weight loss is mainly exerted by HORMONAL drugs and CORTICODIES. Studies and my own practice but they also show the great influence of the use of ANTIBIOTICS. And this is a large amount of use in our childhood, as well as the use of antibiotics during the diet program. Antibiotics affect the healthy intestinal flora in our intestines and this has a particular effect on our weight loss or weight gain. Obese people have a predominance of bacteria in their intestines, which preferentially convert nutrients into storage fat, unlike those who are not overweight and have a mostly healthy intestinal environment. The intestines thus affect not only our immunity, but also our possible excess weight. I therefore recommend the use of probiotics and prebiotics* throughout the diet program, which will not only prevent possible intestinal problems in the form of diarrhea, constipation or bloating, but will also help us in particular in creating the right intestinal flora and thus faster weight loss. We must also pay close attention to any colds or infections at all times. Any "unnecessary" use of medication will significantly extend our diet program. It is therefore also advisable to use dietary supplements that support our immunity, such as garlic, echinacea or mushrooms, during the diet program. *A probiotic is a living part of food that, when consumed in sufficient quantities, has a beneficial effect on the health of the consumer. A prebiotic, on the other hand, is an indigestible food component, better known as fiber.
