What can I expect during the first week of the diet?

"Is this normal?"

During the first week of the NUPO Diet, it is possible that some side effects may appear. How much or how little you notice them depends on the lifestyle you are switching from. However, the symptoms or side effects you experience are common to all weight loss diets and cannot be attributed to the NUPO Diet. Below are the most common "side effects" of the diet.

Headaches

If you are used to consuming a certain amount of sugar and you cut back on it from day to day, a headache is an almost inevitable side effect, as the body reacts to the reduced sugar intake. A headache is therefore a sign that the body is not getting the sugar it is used to. The headache will disappear within a relatively short time, when your body gets used to the diet and is no longer hungry for sugary foods. If you drink a lot (ideally 2-3 liters of water per day), you have nothing to worry about.

Dizziness and coldness

If you were used to consuming 2,500–3,000 kcal per day and suddenly you only supply your body with approx. 700 kcal per day (energy deficit is followed by weight loss), the body will react, for example, by showing dizziness or feeling cold. Once the body gets used to the new conditions, it will change. However, the feeling of cold may be something you experience for a longer period of time, because you are giving your body less energy than before, your body needs more energy (from your stored fat reserves) to keep you going.

Fatigue and inattention

It is perfectly normal to feel more tired, sleepy, sluggish, and have trouble concentrating during the first week of dieting. Your body used to have a lot of energy that was suddenly taken away from it. As your body switches from using carbohydrates as its primary source of energy to using stored fat as its primary source of energy, you will feel more tired. Once your body starts drawing on fat stores, your energy will return. The transition from one fuel source to another will undoubtedly use up some of the excess.

Hunger

Hunger is an inevitable part of changing your diet. If you are overweight, you have given your body more energy than it was able to use for a certain period of time. The stomach expands according to the amount of food consumed. Now that the stomach is not receiving the same amount of food as before, it will want more until it gets used to the new and limited amount of food. This usually takes about a week. If hunger is too bothersome and demanding for you, we recommend a dietary supplement that will fill you up without calories, such as Slim Boost - Fill My Tummy . Water can also provide satiety. The feeling of hunger should disappear after 3-4 days of dieting.

Frequent - or less frequent - visits to the toilet

During the first week of the diet, you will probably significantly reduce your carbohydrate intake. This applies to everyone, whether you are very overweight or want to get rid of a few extra pounds. Carbohydrates bind fluid to the body, up to 3 times more than its own weight! When carbohydrate intake is limited as with NUPO, the body releases a lot of accumulated fluid. This means many visits to the toilet and a fantastic motivational result on the scale. But don't be fooled. Losing up to 3 kg during the first week of the diet is not unusual. The loss of body fluids is especially responsible for the first big weight loss at the beginning of the diet. Your stomach will speak up more often than you were used to. Again, a lot depends on your lifestyle. If you were used to a lot of fiber in your diet, you may not notice anything during the day. However, if you were not used to a lot of fiber, you may experience all sorts of stomach movements and a lot of flatulence. During weight loss, you may experience both diarrhea and constipation, as your body naturally detoxifies. Once your stomach gets used to the large amount of fiber, everything will return to normal. However, you must be aware that you will visit the toilet less. 6 liquid meals a day is healthy for the body, because it absorbs nutrients from a liquid diet much better. People are not used to chewing regular food well. When food is liquid, the body gets the best conditions for absorbing nutrients.
